It's never a good sign when you're in the middle of baking something and have to break out the substitution chart. The recipe called for 1 cup of semisweet chocolate chips. I didn't have have chocolate chips. Enter substitution chart. All I needed was 2 squares of unsweetened chocolate plus 2 tablespoons shortening and 1/2 cup of sugar. Enter the substitution chart again since I didn't have 2 squares of unsweetened chocolate. So, now all I needed was 6 tablespoons cocoa plus 6 tablespoons shortening. Yes, these I had; however, I didn't have the 1/2 cup of sugar. Enter substitution chart again. All I needed was 1-1/2 cups of powdered sugar. Yes, that I had. And the recipe would have turned out great had Piper not dumped 9 cups of Corn Chex on the floor requiring me to leave the stove and help him clean it up. One forgotten, burned mess on the stove.
Started all over, got it made and then forgot to take it to Bible study.

I'm sure glad you're keeping all these events saved in your blog. It will be fun to look back years from now and read them over again.
