"Well hello, Mr. Movie Star!" This is how my conversation with Grandpa started today. I pictured him in sunglasses, lounging in his Lazy Boy chair with his feet up, drinking an iced tea.
For those of you who don't know, Grandpa was interviewed by the History Channel awhile back and is apparently now 'starring' in the 10-week series "Battle 360". At least he was the star in last night's episode. We didn't know what to expect as far as how much airtime they would give him, but he really had a lot to contribute. Pretty much my whole family, except Holly who was home sick, got together at Grandma and Grandpa's house to watch the show. It was an exciting time and being the Southern hostess that she is, Grandma opened up her house to pretty much whoever wanted to come over even though it was going to be a late night.
It was so neat the first time Grandpa started to talk. I could tell it was his voice and I told everyone at the farm, "That's him talking!" How neat to see his picture from when he was in WWII and hear a good portion of his interview.
I am a proud Granddaughter today not just because Grandpa was on TV but because he was a hero then and should be seen as a hero today because he is so willing to tell a story that so many need hear. I am really looking forward to seeing the rest of the series.
So get ready everyone, Grandpa may be walking the red carpet...or may be giving a set of his footprints to Grauman's Chinese Theater!

Gary & I really wanted to go last night, but we didn't make it. S said she's going to buy it on DVD, so I can't wait to watch it! (we're the losers w/ no cable. Ha!)
Hey - there's a link on your "favorite blogs" section that doesn't work. It's the one that says "matthew morken". FYI.
I agree with Sharon! Even though it was neat and fun to see G-pa on TV last night, it is even more inspiring to know that he was there in the thick of it and the Lord brought him through it.
a celebrity! awesome!
