6 months old....and reminiscent

Today Finley is 6 months old. I woke up kind of sad that this first 6 months has gone by so fast. I went back and watched many of his older videos today and looked through some older pictures. Many times I called Matthew in the room to say, "I can't believe he used to be that small" or "look at how much he's changed". I was really in awe of how much had happened in the last 6 months. Matthew and I went from having only us to think about to having this tiny human to consume all of our thoughts all of the time. It is amazing how life changes in a split second. I know, it's cliche. Everyone says that your life will change when you have a baby...and you readily admit that it will, but you don't realize how much it will change...that such a tiny person can mean so much to you immediately.

While looking through the pictures and videos I realized how much he has grown and become who we know as Finley Rye today. I thought I'd highlight some of the fun things that have happened just in the last 6 months.

09/02/2007- Birthday

09/16/2007- First scoot on a blanket

09/19/2007- Laughed in his sleep

09/28/2007- First smile

10/08?/2007- Found his hands

10/15?/2007- Found his tongue

11/08/2007- Played with a rattle for the first time

12/07/2007- Pulled himself up to sitting

12/14/2007- Reached for his pacifier

12/18/2007- Scooted from 1 side of a blanket to the other

12/23/2007- Talked to daddy (more like a conversation)

12/26/2007- Rolled from front to back--I have no idea when he rolled from back to front. I wish I'd written that down.

01/19/2008- Found his feet

01/20/2008- Sat in the tripod position on his own

02/03/2008- First crawl

02/18/2008- Carrots (We all know how that went)

02/17/2008- Yelled on purpose repeatedly (In church)

02/23/2008- Squealed on purpose repeatedly

02/24/2008- Cheerios

02/28/2008- First time in the snow

Here are some earlier videos of Finny that you may not have seen as they were taken before my blogging started.

This had to have been around the middle of October when he found his tongue. For a few days he just stuck his tongue out all the time.

The pacifier fell out of Finley's mouth and he was trying to get it back in...with his tongue. I love this video.

This is an earlier video of Matthew playing with Finley on the floor. From the third week, Finley was moving his legs like he was trying to scoot.

This was our first video as a family. This is the nurse showing us how to give Finley a bath and wash his head. Funny, after being pregnant and huge I thought I was so skinny at this time. I can now see that I was not. Thankfully, most of that is gone.

I can't believe 6 months has passed. In some ways it's gone fast and in other ways, it seems like it was a lifetime ago when we didn't have Finley. I can't imaging life now without him. I am so looking forward to the next 6 months...and more!

Wow, what huge changes in a family's life. I'm sure you can't imagine life without Finn now, and you wouldn't want to. What a joy he has been the past 6 months, and he'll continue to be in the future. Each day will bring so many exciting changes as he learns new things. I know you've heard it before, but take time to enjoy him now. Time really does fly by! Love, Mom
