I know I haven't posted recently about Ryan, but we got some news today. Just to catch everyone up...Ryan went in for emergency surgery last Saturday morning after being sick all week. His appendix had burst apparently earlier in the week and had become gangrenous. He was supposed to go home possibly Sunday or yesterday, but they didn't even sew him up until today. They were still getting some junk out and had to make sure there was no infection left before they closed the incision. He hasn't eaten since last Wednesday, and has only gotten nourishment from an IV. He started chewing on some ice today but it didn't sit well and he started vomiting bile. They were going to have to put a tube into his nose (not sure why), but he started feeling better after vomiting so they didn't have to do that. The doctor came to check on him tonight and he said he wasn't worried. I guess we all thought he would be home by now getting better. Matthew and Bob (his dad) went to see Ryan this afternoon and said he was thin and couldn't talk because it hurt him too much. The doctors and nurses say that some people just don't do as well with the surgery as others, so that is comforting to know that they are not very concerned.
Robbyn called her in-laws to tell them what had happened when Ryan went into surgery. They didn't take the news well at all. The past 2 years have been so difficult for them with losing 2 of their children and 3 other close relatives. Apparently, Phil's funeral was the 5th in the past 2 years. Please continue to pray for Mr. and Mrs. Quandt, Ryan, Robbyn (his mom) and Trevor (his brother). Robbyn, Trevor, and most of the family here have been up to visit Ryan and the weather has not been good. We are getting down to almost -50 wind chill and at best, it is very uncomfortable just to have to be out in the cold. Thank you for your prayers. I'll update again as I hear more.
