wal-mart update

Yesterday I called our local Wal-Mart store and left a message with the assistant manager explaining to her what had happened there on Saturday and asked her to thank the two greeters for me. I also wrote an email to Wal-Mart Corporate office and told them about what happened. I just received a phone call from our local Wal-Mart from the manager who said she had received an email from the Corporate office that the two ladies would be recognized and thanked for their great service.

You may think I've made too big a deal about this, but seriously, when was the last time that someone did something this nice for you? I've also asked myself "when was the last time I did something nice like this for someone else"?

I was going through the checkout at Barnes & Noble on one of those 20 below, windy days, when I realized I left my wallet in the car! I had Toby in the stroller, and the lady at the checkout told me I could leave him with her behind the counter. I hesitated for a second, too, but decided to take her up on her offer. I ran as fast as my pregnant self could go to get my wallet, and I don't think Toby even realized I had left for a minute. I was very grateful for such a helpful employee!

When Sarah was first born (in February, no less), whenever I would go to the grocery store, I was afraid to let her out of my sight for even a minute. So I paid for the groceries, strolled her to the car, left her in the cart, loaded the car with the groceries, pushed her and the cart to the "holding station" for carts, then took her out and put her in the car! All in well below zero temps! That was in the late 1970s when the world was a little safer place than it is nowadays. Would I do it differently if I were raising a child today? I'm not sure.

I do the same as Mom, I leave Chloe in the cart the whole time then put her in last. My rule, "Last in the car, first out."
I need to do something significant for someone else every day. Thank you for the reminder Sharon! We miss you. Only 115 days until the beach :)
